Phenomena in the Office

| 2 friends (husbands) try to help, but haunted by their 2 wives |
(The Two Wives’ mirages appear in the Husbands’ office)
NARRATOR
Apparitions among the numbers - the Two Wives!
Unbodily incorporeal.
Translucent, see-through, flesh white bodies,
rounded nudely, as usual.
Rare and small - toppling off in space!
The phenomena at the office
is the Two Husbands’ chase.
The phantoms of their two wives
are appearing for the first time
(since the Two Wives left).
The Husbands are interrupted and stupefied
by the appearances of the two women they love,
who disappeared.
ONLOOKER
When did their wives leave?
Do they recall?
NARRATOR
They see their two wives flitting about their office
like the see-through butterflies that they are;
but they can’t get their hands on them.
It’s just solid air
they are grasping!  |

Meanwhile, the numbers are fleeing;
jumping out of their skin from their black canisters,
looking for a wall hole;
heading toward a labyrinth
of endless possibilities for the Two Husbands
(where they can’t ever go through!).
The Two Wives’ apparitions invite them
to go somewhere else (to where they are)
and to leave the office; and to let all, or most,
of the numbers suck in to that incredibly functioning
and sucking labyrinth in the wall.
Do you see it?
ONLOOKER
Yes.
(The Two Husbands see something happening to their graph too)
SMALLY
Biggy! What’s taking place here, as the outlines spread,
is a graphic conversion for all time!
NARRATOR
And, as separate lines un-rigidly fold in,
the Husbands say...
BIGGY & SMALLY
Were going there!
NARRATOR
But, lo, no - two wives appear
like phantoms:
luscious, naked, smaller beings
seen right through - but seen - in space,
hovering
like two beauteous ‘babe’ bugs
in their minds.
ONLOOKER
Like fireflies!
BIGGY & SMALLY
‘Babe’ bugs inhabit the office space!
NARRATOR
And the Husbands chase them and can’t help
seeing them as their own wives!
Myrna, Jayme, Julie, Yvette...
Whatever their names are!
Yet, smaller and smaller,
their insubstantial yet formidable outlines become...
Fading, fading
to a degree that lets them be
unseen, not visual...
ONLOOKER
No more there!
(The vision of the Two Wives in the office passes away.)
(Note To Readers: In Mexico, at this moment, the Two Wives must be caught in some kind of bodily ‘limbo’ in space, for they unfortunately have been turning into two buttons on the Prince Giant’s cuffs!)
