Two Husbands'... Part 1, Chapter 14

Arises The Seven Shape!

(Biggy is at his desk reading a book quietly to himself about clocks and time.  He reads: ‘Each element of a system possesses its own clock, its own unique measure of the amount of internal process that is taking place with respect to the outer environment... In the self-organization of a larger system the internal clocks of the smaller systems couple together... The electrochemical activities of the brain are a measure of living time, a time that maintains a healthy balance between restrictive order and excessive chaos.’ *)

BIGGY
Hmm, I’m not sure about that?

(Later the next day)

2 husbands: the horrors!

NARRATOR
The Husbands are still sitting
in front of swollen, heavy grids
packed with smaller numbers
which agitate and contort
and rankle the observers:
keeping stressful grins of approbation,
apprehension or appropriation
stretched across their faces.

The Two Husbands!
how nervous they are
    in watching
    and not touching.

Their Wives will fix that -
because ‘Touch’ and ‘Dance’
are their secret names!

Through multi-layered crossways
perpetrating, the Wives get through,
    disguised as numbers!
through to the large stately windows
of their husbands’ offices up above;
well lit up and easy to see reflected therein
the well-lit shadows of their husbands, forlorn,
creeping over books, expecting answers,
looking up, checking their boards,
    hoping for relationships,
    hoping for the numbers
    to come down voluntarily
and irrevocably bind in their names
to everything profitable
that could be stamped and printed,
    stacked up
    like money - bound together
    just for themselves.

Yet, their numbers are popping through
that credit-binding money net
    and disappearing!
    falling through
    unlucky holes!

Yet, here! Some numbers are returning
    from somewhere new
with female lines set upon them,
and family shapes - even with smiles!

The Ladies are popping back in as numbers
to the important offices where they, as Ladies,
never go (and they’re not expected or invited).
But they will surely be welcomed now!

(A number Seven suddenly arises in the Husbands’ office)

Seven grows and speaks!

The number Seven stands up!

SEVEN
You have summoned me.
Now what is your bidding?
I am your saving grace, which is a cliché’, I know,
but so are all the duplicitous, multiplicitous numbering things.
I come before you now and am here to do your bidding, sir.

BIGGY
Yow! A large talking number
    standing out,
bigger than all the others!
I bend down to you, sir.

(He kneels and bows)

SMALLY his voice echoing from the other end of the room,
Whatever garb he’s dragged up in, out of our
calculating systems bin, it has got to be false!
And we won’t watch or listen.

BIGGY to Smally,
Hey, you’re being too forward, fore-heady and
stopping too hard. This number is steady on his feet
and does not seem to be swaying.
Thus, we can trust him and listen to him clearly.
But that’s definitely a girl taking shape!

(Number Seven suddenly kisses Smally)

One husband kissed

BIGGY
Ha,ha!

SMALLY exclaiming,
Once the Seven tasted sweet! La, la!

BIGGY
Something is happening on my desk, too!

Husband mathematician finds power of numbers

TWO WIVES emerging from their numbers,
Hi, Husbands dear,
we are swooping in for a quick visitation.
Good upon your nerves, we hope?
Carried or captured forth,
bound and adorned, in numbers’ shapes
    we’ve sailed
through intricate, mechanical systems
    of disbelief
to ponder you here in your offices;
sadly so far apart from us.
And, definitely, you seem at a loss
for gain or response.

(The Wives become irritated now)

A warning by a wife, messenger - woman

Your ways are inconceivable! -
just staring at books or numbers
and never laying off.
What about human things?
Is all desire held up in the perspective
of only seeing money’s face
and the loss and gain written there
upon your charts?

"Oh my god! a mashed lady!"

Husbands, blush for us!
We are ashamed
at being taken over by your numbers
and superceded by other values;
as our feminine shapes and looks
have now become straight, angular and sharp!

Thick and boxy!

So heavy upon us!

So heavy on our feet!

Yet, like a soufflé popping up
and being thrown into the sky,
we have flown here
in our blasphemous, serious garb.

In the serious garb that all moneys wear!

Our straight lines and inky cloaks
not stranded there
    on the line
    where we flew
    from the ledger’s stair
off the Captain’s book
(where all his numbers were).

Where we were sometimes kept, it seems.

Figured in to baleful totals there.

Gained from our unhappy tricks that earned him more.

And yet, we popped out
with El Sultam Bierstorm’s willful help
in transforming us here, momentarily.

So, now we’re riding our own numbers
that are attached around us
    like cloaks
    or inky garb.

And they’re wearing heavy and thick -
so blocky, we’re barely standing up.

But fly we can!

Busy business

(The Two Wives quickly dissolve back into their numbers’ shapes
which instantly fly out of the window)

Note to Readers: How was it possible for the Two Wives to visit their husbands at this time? Please check next week on to Chapter 15, where the present unusual circumstances that you just read about, will be explained.
